Montse: Yes. Could you tell me the best way to get into the center of London, please?
Reception: Well, there is a courtesy bus, which leaves every 20 minutes during the rush hour, or the river taxi service to London Bridge.
Montse: And when is the rush hour?
Reception: It's between seven and nine in the morning and five and seven in the evening.
Moatse: And after nine in the morning?
Reception: After nine the courtesy bus service runs every 40 minutes.
Montse: Ahha. And how long does it take?
Reception: The bus takes about 15 minutes, depending on the traffic.
Montse: And which way does it go?
Reception: Here, I'll show you on the map. From the hotel it goes along the river bank and then on to Brunel Road. It crosses the fiver at Tower Bridge and then stops just after Tower Bridge at Tower Hill Underground Station.
Montse: And what about the fiver taxi, does that change after rush hour?
Reception: Yes, it's a half hourly service during rush hour and after that it runs to a timetable. It takes about 15 minutes. It's a really nice trip. You go across to Canary Wharf Pier first, then you go along the river, under Tower Bridge and you stop at a pier just before London Bridge. The only thing is, it costs £1.80 each way.
Mortise: OK. Thanks very much.
Reception: You're welcome. Bye.

M: De let me forget it. At that time I had a wonderful life and was on top of the world. I don't know what drove me to seek diversion in poker machines. So pretty soon I was going to play the pokies quite often and yes I was enjoying myself and sometimes even won a few dollars.
W: Is the game so attractive?
M: You never know. It has a kind of magic. I was totally consumed. Anyway the whole story is long and covers the last seven years and though I have tried to be unemotional. I must say now that I have been through hell and I've felt as if I was already dead.
W: For so long a time, haven't you ever thought to wash your hands?
M: When I am gambling, I don't care about anything else. I know I was addicted and powerless to stop. I've lost much. Even so all I can dream of is the big win.
W: Several years has passed, tell us what your feeling is now?
M: I end up just as bad, and hate myself. My health suffered, my finance was in ruin, and I didn't have the willpower to stop. I have been homeless many times and my life has become unmanageable.
W: That's a crying shame. It's high time you turned over a new leaf. Wish you success.

M: Hi, Lara, my name is David Jones-, and I'm wondering if you could tell me the name of the manager in charge of the human resources department in your L.A. office. I sent them my resume recently, and I'd just like to see if they received it.

However, if you are concerned that your application has been lost, I can give you the number of her receptionist.
