W: Sure, Andrew. What is the problem?
M: It's a bit complicated, or rather, kind of embarrassing. To be honest, I made a rather stupid mistake.
W: OK, go on, Andrew.
M: The term paper I banded in is not my final edited version. The paper you marked is not the paper I had intended to submit. Perhaps I was overtired and stressed, but when I saw the mark on my paper, I quickly realized what bad happened. I must have printed an earlier draft at the last minute, thinking I was printing out the final paper. Doctor Muir, I must be honest with you, maintaining my average is extremely important to me, as this will affect my application to grad school.
W: Well, Andrew, that sounds like a terrible mistake. I'm not sure what can be done about it at this point. The paper was due three weeks ago, and they've all been marked and given hack to the students. Let me talk to some of my colleagues about your situation, and we'll go from there.
M: Thank you, Doctor Muir. I really appreciate this. Should I give you the correct paper today?

M: Well, working with companies and giving VIP guests special treatment is part of our service. So if you will just give me the details—numbers, dates, and so on—we can try to work out a package.
W: Right then. Well, the clients concerned are three directors front IBM. We would like them to have three luxury rooms with all facilities.
M: Right, I get the picture.., and as regards meals?
W: Breakfast, of course, but any other meals would be charged to us in addition to what we agree now. However, we would like to include in the package a special dinner when they arrive—dinner for six, including the directors of our company. And we would also like some extra luxuries for them on arrival—bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers in each room.
M: No problem. That's included.in our VIP package. Now the dates?
W: From March 1 to March 4.
M: That's three nights. Now that's a peak time for us, and our rates would normally be high. However I could ac commodate the clients in three luxury suites, which I'll show you in a moment. I can quote you a special all inclusive rate of £1,800.

听力原文:M. Hi, Jane ... Say, are you OK? You're looking a bit tired.
W: Oh, I am. It's my neighbors.
M: Oh, so they're acting up again, Huh?
W: Unfortunately, yes, they are.
M: Loud music?
W: Not exactly. You've been to my apartment, right?
M: Yeah. I've been there once. It's a nice place.
W: Well, thank you. So you remember I live on the top floor. Well, last night, around eleven, my neighbors decided to go up on the roof of my apartment building.
M: The roof? Really?
W: Yeah. They had this guy in from out of town and they wanted to show him the view! Can you believe it? I was soundly asleep, and all of a sudden I heard "stomp, stomp, stomp!" They were walking around on the roof. It sounded like my ceiling was going to fall in.
M. So what did you do?
W: Well, after about ten minutes, I got dressed and went up there to tell them to be quiet. I was so mad. Then of course after that, I couldn't go back to sleep.

听力原文:W: Are you going to find a job again this summer?
M: Yes, of course. Otherwise, how ars I going to pay for the tuition fees in the fall?
W: I am thinking of working too, but my folks insist I have to spend some time with them during the summer. You know, I haven't seen them for two years.
M: That's bad considering you are only an 8-hour drive away from your hometown. Why haven't you been home for so long?
W: It's not that I didn't want to go home but because my parents were volunteering in a charitable organization in Central America for the last couple of years.
M: In that case it's more about the reason you should visit them in the summer.
W: That's true, but I didn't want to spend the whole summer staying at home. I want to make some money and pay off my tuition fees too.
M: Well, you can always get a loan.
W: Loan? I hate the idea of borrowing. I would rather make my own money and pay it off.
M: That's true. It's not uncommon for people to have whopping bills to pay once they've graduated.
W: Yes, that's exactly what I didn't want to get myself into. What do I do about money?
M: Well, yon can work part-time when you are at home. There's no need to think of this as a dichotomy. Why not do both?
W: I was thinking about that but my parents think I should be at home with them full-time.
M: Well, I think you do have to make a decision then.
