听力原文:W: Hey Steve, got any plans for tonight? M: Hi, Jane. No, I dont think so. Why?
Got any suggestions? W: In fact, I do. I just got two tickets to the opening of the exhibit of the reprints by Julia Margaret Cameron. I would have to mention it earlier, but I was on the waiting list for these tickets and I wasnt sure Id even get them. M: An exhibit, huh? I like such things. But I dont know who Julia…… W: Margaret Cameron! She was a photographer in the 1800s. She is interesting to art-historians in general and students of photography in particular because she ... how should I say, change the aesthetics for photography. M: What do you mean? W: Well, her specialty was portraits and instead of just making a factual record of details like most photographers did, you know, just capturing what a person look like in a dispassionate(平心静气的)thought of way. She, like a portrait painter, was interested in capturing her subjects personality. M: Interesting! How did she do that? W: She invented a number of techniques that affect the picture. Like one of these things she did was blur images slightly by using a soft focus on the subject. Thats pretty common now. M: Yeah, seen that. Who did she photograph? W: Famous people of her day, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Charles Darwin, I dont know who else. Well see at the exhibition. M: You really pick my curiosity. I am going to enjoy this.52.

A.Her subjects home.

B.Her subject"s social status.

C.Her subject"s personality.

D.Her subject "s role in history.

听力原文:W: I often read two newspapers. Washington Post and The Sun. What about you? M:
I will buy the newspaper whose headlines catch my eyes in the front page. Do you buy the two newspapers everyday? W: Yes, that way Im sure not to miss my favourite sections. Doesnt the size of the daily paper surprise you? M: Yes, it certainly does. The newspaper staff— the reporters, writers, editors, and linotype operators — must be busy continuously. They need a large circulation to support such a staff, dont they? W: Im sure they do. Of course, much of a newspapers income comes from advertisements. M: Thats true. You try to read the whole paper, dont you? W: No. I just read the parts that interest me. I glance at the headlines, but I read the sports page and the business section carefully. Do you read those? M: No, but I do read the editorials and the news section. You saw the article about the earthquake in Japan, didnt you? W: Yes. That was a terrible disaster. Do you think newspapers should print stories like that? M: Certainly they should! Theyre part of the news of the day and people want to know about them. Dont you agree? W: Yes, I suppose disasters are news, too. It seems to me that newspapers would be more pleasant to read if they had a large society section and more comic strips. Dont you like to read articles about celebrations and happy events? M: Yes, I enjoy reading them. But since you dont like to read unhappy news, why do you subscribe to two newspapers? If I were you, I wouldnt read a newspaper at all. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. What sort of newspaper will the man buy? 10. What surprises the speakers? 11. Which part of the newspaper does the woman usually read? 12. Why doesnt the woman enjoy reading about disasters in the daily newspaper?9.

A.The size of the daily newspaper.

B.The staff of the daily newspaper.

C.The circulation of the daily newspaper.

D.The advertisements in the daily newspaper.

听力原文:M: Say, Rason, what are you watching? W: An old Japanese film. I wonder if Im go
ing to spend all my next year there, Id better start familiarizing myself with the culture. M: You mean you are accepted into the programme? W: Yes. M: Thats wonderful. You must be excited. W: Excited and nervous. You know I owe a lot to Professor Mercheno. He wrote a letter of recommendation for me and he bought me a set of practise tapes and a book which goes with them. Just so I can work on my basic conversation skills. M: How much Japanese can you understand? W: Not a lot at present. But I signed up for intensive Japanese this semester. M: I wish I were as talented as you are in foreign languages. Id like to study abroad. W: Then why dont you? The university has lots of overseas programmes that dont require any mastery of a foreign language. The tuition is about the same. You just have to be the kind of person who is receptive to new ways of looking at things and willing to adjust to a different kind of life style. M: I had assumed that all programmes require you to know a foreign language. I might check into this. W: You wont regret it. Questions 9 to 11 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. Why is the woman so excited? 10. Why does the woman feel grateful to Professor Mercheno? 11. What is required for the man to study abroad, according to the woman?9.

A.He told her abot an interesting movie.

B.He recorded some tapes especially for her.

C.He helped her get into the programme.

D.He gave her a good grade in her Japanese class.

听力原文:Narrator Listen to a conversation between a student and a professor. Student Go
od morning, Professor Thompson. I know your office hours are this afternoon, but I was wondering if you could spare me a few minutes now cause I have classes this afternoon. Professor Sure, Susan. What do you want to talk to me about? Student Well...to tell you the truth, Im not doing what I wanna do, I mean I dont like my major very much. Electrical Engineering isnt the sort of thing that attracts me. And I am at a loss what to do. What should I consider if I wanna choose another major? Professor Good Question! The most efficient way to pick a major would be to ask yourself: What do I love to do? One of my friends, for instance, started out as a microbiology major because he wanted to earn a comfortable living when he graduated. Then, in his junior year, he realized he loved history above all else, changed his major, and is now a history professor. Student Yeah, youre right, yknow, actually I was keen on Literature, but my mother, an engineer, talked me into taking this major. Professor Well, dont live someone elses dream. Its your time to be in college. Its your career in the making. Dont let someone else dictate what you should major in. My mother, a doctor, really pushed me to be a doctor. I cant think of anything Id hate more! Nothing is worse than to work for a career you dont like for your whole life! Student Yeah, but urn...um...the thing is...the thing is I am afraid of making a wrong decision again. Professor Remember, you dont have to decide right away. Go ahead and get those pesky general education requirements out of the way and, who knows- you might find something in your genned classes that you decide to major in! Most colleges dont insist that you declare a major right away, so take advantage of that. And remember, you can always change your mind. Thats my personal opinion. You can also ask other people, for example, advisors at our university whose job is to help you answer this question with their skills and expertise. You may either go to a faculty adviser who will provide ongoing advice and guidance on program selection, course registration, credit load, deadlines, and majors and minors, or to an academic adviser who can provide support, guidance, and appropriate referrals for students experiencing academic or personal difficulties while studying at our university. Student In fact, Ive already asked Dr. lasenza. But she had a different view. She said once youve chosen a major, then find the specific degree path that gets you out of school the fastest as possible. She said she knew a lot of people were going but what if I dont like it or I dont want to work in that field. Well to those questions the answer is easy: work at what you like but save as much time and money as possible on your degree. She also said that the majority of highly successful people didnt go to college, didnt finish college, or dont work in the area of their degree...so...um...it makes no sense to put any more money than necessary to obtain the degree. Once you graduate and move to your actual career that is where your real education will begin. Professor Eh...that might be reasonable, but what I want to say is: be honest with yourself. A potentially huge income in a field that...you know...will bore you or make you miserable isnt worth it. I forget who said it, but heres the best advice I can give: "Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life!" Student Ok, I see, I guess now I have to ponder what really matters. Thank you very much, Professor, for your advice. Now get ready to answer the questions. You may use your notes to help you answer. 7. What are the speakers mainly discussing? 8. Why does the student visit the professor? 9. What does the professor imply when he says this? Professor Well, dont live someone elses dream. Its your time to be in college. Its your career in the making. Dont let someone else dictate what you should major in. 10. What can be inferred from Dr. lasenzas response to the student? Student She said...work at what you like but save as much time and money as possible on your degree. 11. What can be inferred about the professor when he says this? Professor Eh...that might be reasonable, but what I want to say is: be honest with yourself. A potentially huge income in a field that...you know...will bore you or make you miserable isnt worth it.Narrator Listen to part of a conversation between two students. Now get ready to answer the questions. You may use your notes to help you answer.

What are the speakers mainly discussing?

A.Working in an office.

B.Finding a job.

C.Choosing a major.
