M: No, certainly not. Nor shall we name her after eleven hockey players if she's a girl.
W: But choosing even one name is difficult. Which names have you thought of?
M: Helen wants to call the child John after me. I don't want to. My name is too plain.
W: And if a girl comes, you won't like plain Jane any better. What about Jonathan or Janet?
M: Every Jonathan I know is called Jon for short, so that's no good. Helen's an opera-lover. So we might call a daughter Carmen.
W: You could name a boy after a poet. How would you like to know someone called Dante Brown, Shakespeare Robinson or Keats Thompson?
M: Those names are old-fashioned. But up-to-date names can be worse. Some people call their children after film stars or pop stars. How dreadful to be christened Clint, Elvis, Rod or Ringo!
W: Lots of children hate the names they have been given. Why not give a child a number instead? Then he can exchange his number for a name of his own choice when he is old enough to decide himself what he would like to be called.
What is the conversation mainly about?
A.Choosing names for children.
B.Family names.
C.Up-to-date names.
D.Names of famous writers.

In 1989 we were acquired by the Benetton Sports System. Benetton Sports System is comprised of a number of different companies but an easy illustration would be to think of an umbrella and the umbrella would be the Benetton Sports System. Underneath the umbrella would be three columns: one column would be Rollerblade, which is the in-line skating company; another column would be Nordica, which is the winter sport group; and the third column would be Prince Sports Group, which is our company, which deals with the summer sporting goods. And then they are all connected across the bottom by Benetton Sports System Active that is responsible for the apparel for all three of those groups.
Well, tennis equipment has changed considerably in the last twenty years. If we go back to before 1976, really most players were playing with wooden rackets. And you notice the wood rackets' very small head sizes. Howard Head came along and not only innovated the ski industry with the first metal ski, but innovated the tennis industry with the first dimensional change in tennis rackets. And that, essentially, means he invented the oversized head. If you compare it to a wooden racket, you can see quite clearly you've got a much larger head on the oversize racket. That happened in the mid-seventies. Then the next major innovation occurred with another dimensional change in the rackets which was the wide body. Wide bodies allowed for greater stiffness in rackets therefore producing much more power.
And today the next biggest innovation is also dimensional—and that is length. Here is our new Mach 1000. The Prince Long Body racket gives you five major benefits. They are: more power, more control, more spin, more reach and more comfort. Welt, l think this is the last dimensional change in a racket that can occur. Again, just to repeat, you had the first dimensional change which was head size—larger head size; the second dimensional change was cross-section and now we're looking at the third and final eras that you can change in terms of a racket's geometry, which is length. So ! think what you'll see over the next several years is—who can make the best longer rackets.
?You will hear a presentation about an introduction of a racket goods sporting company.

On April 26, 1937, at 4:40 p.m., the Condor Legion of the German air force bombed peacefully, undefended Guernica to virtually total destruction. It took three hours and five minutes. For the German high command, it was an opportunity for their. fighter pilots to practice saturation-bombing(饱和轰炸) and dive-bombing techniques designed to terrorize and kill fleeting civilians.
Photographers and journalists who reported the bombing described it as a violence of then unparalleled horror. Guernica was the first city in history to be destroyed by aerial bombardment. World War Ⅱ,for which the Spanish Civil War was a military dress rehearsal, would ultimately numb(使麻木)the world with its terrible destruction of Dresden and Hiroshima. While a contented world was unwilling to challenge the denials of France, the Germans, and the Vatican, one man decided to reveal the dimensions of the violent incident.
Photographs of the bombing appeared in Paris newspapers within a day or two. And Pablo Picasso, acclaimed by many as the artistic genius of our age, immediately began his preliminary sketches for the mural(壁画), Guernica, which he gave to the Republican government to hang in the 1937 International Exposition in Paris. Today, Guernica is widely hailed as the greatest political painting of the twentieth century.
Much controversy has arisen as to the specific meaning of the various elements of the painting. Does the bull represent fascism? Spain? Brutality and darkness? Picasso himself, never one to be bound by other people's need for precise references, was no help. Critics have had a field day analyzing and explaining the masterpiece. What has never been in doubt is that the powerful mural is a symbolic, figurative painting made to express an exiled
Spaniard's terrible rage at the agony imposed on a defenseless town of innocent men, women, and children. He was painting their agony, Spain's agony, and his own agony.
A few years later, when German soldiers visited Picasso's studio in Paris during the occupation of France in World War II, the painter handed out postcards of the Guernica mural to his unwanted and uninvited visitors.
"Did you do this?" one of the surprised soldiers exclaimed. "No," Picasso is supposed to have replied, "you did."

A.the German pilots needed to practice their bombing techniques
B.Guernica was trying to attack the Germans
