It originated in the 1600's. The Pilgrims, who were a group of people from England, arrived in America and some Indians helped them. The Indians taught them how to plant grain such as corn, vegetables and pumpkins. So, after that, the Pilgrims had a party for their Indian friends every year.

Almost all Koreans come together with their family, see relatives who live far away and have an ancestor-memorial service with many kinds of food, which had a good harvest that year. 英译中:It has been almost six months since I last saw American soil, my family, or my home. My heart aches every moment because everywhere I look I see piles of rubble where houses used to stand and lifeless bodies that once moved around with the joy of life inside them. It is as if I have stared into death’s eyes and seen its hatred, its coldness. If it would have been some strangers’ corpses that I had seen I might have taken it lighter. But these lifeless heaps are, or used to be, my friends and colleagues.

Twenty-five million Americans wake up every day in just such a sorry situation. They are one in ten of us who are left-handed and must face the world designed for the right-handed majority.
Why we are left or right-handed remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of science. We know that nearly two out of three lefties are men and that left-handedness runs in families. According to one study almost half of the children of two left-handed parents will be left-handed. The Scots-Irish family Kerr produced so many left-handers that in 1470 the family built its house stairway with a reverse twist.
On the other hand, heredity (遗传) alone cannot explain lefties. At least 84 percent of them are born of two right-handed parents. And in 12 percent of twins, one will be right-handed, the other left.
Perhaps the greatest puzzle of all is not why some people are left-handed, but rather why so few are. In fact, almost equal numbers of individuals will favour either the right or the left. However, scientists are trying to set things right and they are beginning to study the many ways left-handers differ from right-handers by considering how their brains work.
How many of the Americans are left-handers?
A.10%.
B.12%.
C.50%.
D.84%.

听力原文: Well, I feel it is very important for families to have regular meals together. One of my good child memories was dinner with my parents and two sisters. Because my husband and I both work and our three children are busy with their studies, we seldom had a chance to get together as a family. But we thought it would be possible for us to sit down and enjoy meals together every week. First we try setting three fixed days: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. But almost everyone was unhappy. Then my son has the idea that every one told me his or her most convenient days and I would choose the two best days. For a while, the children were still unhappy with the idea. They said they would rather spend the time with their friends playing sports. Gradually, though, they began to see these evenings together as interesting, and helpful. We loved a lot. We made plans for trips. We discussed each other's problems. After a couple of months, anyone who had to miss a family meal felt regretful. And now, we all feel that we have been able to build much stronger relations within the family than we had before
How many people are there in the woman's family?
A.Three.
B.Four.
C.Five.
