听力原文: While almost every drama major would like to enter the film industry as a cameraman, director or actor, it is important to realize that the ticket sales of the movie market have been in a decline for the later half of the 20th century. In the 1940's, before the spread of television which had a severe impact on the movie industry, weekly attendance rates for theaters were around 80 million; by the 1970's,weekly rates had dipped to a low point of around 12 million. Even when the higher ticket prices are considered, this represented a serious decline in the movie industry.

On top of the decline in the overall market, the large studios dropped the majority of their staff and sold many of their properties. In essence, the large budget movie filmed by large studios disappeared in favor of film made by independent producers. While many of the old studio names are still used, the companies are currently more concerned with working strictly in the financial aspects of film production -- serving as loan guarantors and financial companies for the independent producers. For drama students today, the opportunities of entering the profession are few. When we calculate the changes and add all the problems of the movie industry together, the bottom line is that drama studies are only for those students who truly enjoy practicing the dramatic arts.

(27)

A.The need to bring back the large studios.

B.The benefits of a dramatic arts education.

C.The influence of television.

D.The troubles within the film industry.

听力原文: Consumers' priorities are undergoing a dramatic shift this back-to-school shoppi
ng season as they spend significantly less on electronics and more on modest apparel. Computers, iPods and other electronic goods led the way last year--so much so that demand has been stripped this year. Overall, back-to-school spending is estimated to reach $13.4 billion, down 9.5% from $14.8 billion last year, according to the National Retail Federation. The trade association says much of the drop stems from a more than $1 billion decline in consumption of electronic goods ($2.06 billion vs. $3.09 billion last year). On average, shoppers will shell out $68.08 billion vs. $101.03 billion a year ago for electronic goods.

What is this news mainly about?

A.The shift in fashion.

B.Back-to-school spending.

C.Spending on apparel.

D.Spending on computers.
