听力原文: Yes, the course content does look good in the brochure. I know in a sense I shouldn't complain. After all it's a chance to enhance my skills and knowledge. And that's welcome at times. But it's still a bit of gamble, isn't it? I just have to hope it really does improve my chances of hanging on to my job here. It's a bit frightening, to tell you the truth, with so many pople having to go. After g0 years in a company, you don't want to think about being out of work, do you? But I really wish the brochure would tell you more. It looks good, as I said, but there's no detail, nothing on the time or the teachers. So I feel a bit in the dark really.

W: No...Yes...I have a date tonight, but...
M: Oh, that's really a celebration.
W: Well. I've never done this before. I feel kind of silly, but here goes. Anyway, I am a little nervous.
M: Don't be shy. Tell me what kind of man do you like to date?

First I looked at the books on sale. Jane Adams, the famous television
cook, was there signing copies of her latest book. It's about making cakes so I had to have itl My family loves sweet things and I really liked her last book about making bread. There's a different famous cook there every day signing books and talking to people.
In fact, there's advice on all sorts of topics. I listened to someone from the central market talking about what you should look for when you buy fish. I've always been nervous about buying it, because how can you tell if it's really fresh? Well, I think I've got a better idea now.
Then, in the exhibition theatre, I saw a cook prepare a healthy but tasty lunch using only vegetables! They will prepare a different dish every day. Also in the theatre, at 2 o'clock every day, a cook talks about preparing delicious desserts in under 15 minutes. I tasted one made with chocolate and it was out of this world!
At the show, you can try food from all around the world, from Chile to China, and I did! I enjoyed the food from Canada most of all, although everything I tasted was really good.
The exhibition centre is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and from 10 until 6 on Sundays. But hurry, because the last day is the 23rd of March when the Good Food Show has to make way for the Boat Show. For more details, phone ...

W: I suppose that'll be OK.
M: The first question is what is your full name?
W: Louisa O'Leary.
M: And your age, Mrs. O'Leary?
W: Well ... it's thirty-four.
M: Really? You don't look it at all. Now how much does your husband earn?
W: That's a personal question, but I suppose I should try and be as frank as I can with you--£ 10,000 a year.
M: That isn't much.
W: Yes.
M: Now what I'm really interested in is the way you spend your money. What about housiug, for example?
W: Well, our house costs us about ... er, £ 300 a month.
M: Oh, that must be difficult with ten thousand a year!
W: It certainly is. I was working before we had the baby, of course. That used to make things a lot easier. Now we're much less well off.
M: Mm. Apart from the house, where does your money go?
W: Food is the biggest item. That's about £ 240 a month for food and other small bits and pieces-cleaning materials and so on. For electricity, we only use it for lighting. That's about £ 50 a year.
